Matojo Is A Lemming: Circle of Healers

Several other healers have filled this out – it started with Miss Medicina -  so I figure it’s my turn too. There’s a tank version that I’ll be digging into at some other point!

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healer?

Grindal, a Discipline Priest of Thorium Brotherhood and <Harbingers of War>.

What is your primary group healing environment?

Heroics. BOO HOO.

What is your favorite healing spell for your class and why?

Penance, baby. There’s nothing more satisfying than the *WHUMPWHUMPWHUMP* and twitching of my usual tank (elftwitching, ehehehehe).

What healing spell do you use least for your class and why?

Out of the spells that we didn’t abandon in the 30s? Greater Heal. I don’t even use it with my lovely “Free Crits” button – I use Penance with that instead ’cause of the increased chances for more shields. Also? *WHUMPWHUMPWHUMP*

What do you feel is the biggest strength of your healing class and why?

Damage prevention. Bubbles are shiny, I like shiny things and my tanks like not dying. I think the whole “not dying” thing is a big strength.

What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your healing class and why?

AoE healing. I have the mana now to shield everybody and keep Prayer of Mending going (or that other channeled spell) but if too many people are taking too much damage, sorry, somebody is going to die.

In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best healing assignment for you?

Ahahahaha what. Uh… tank. I’m a single target healer, for the most part.

What healing class do you enjoy healing with least and why?

Another Disc priest. PanicShielding doesn’t go so well in those situations.

What is your worst habit as a healer?

I sometimes forget about myself. I’m learning to keep a shield on myself AT ALL TIMES and I’m memorizing where my Binding Heal is, though. SEE? I CAN LEARN.

What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while healing?

“Healz plz” “Heal me” “I need heals” OR “shields fuck w/my tanking”.
FFFFFFFF I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING. LET ME DO MY JOB. AND WHILE YOU’RE AT IT, READ SOME FUCKING PATCH NOTES. DISC SHIELDS HAVEN’T SCREWED WITH TANKING FOR A LONG TIME and if you’re a paladin having mana issues you are doing it wrong.

Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other healers for PvE healing?

For the most part, though I don’t raid and when I did, there were only ever other priests about.

What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a healer?

Is anyone dead? No? Good.

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your healing class?

People still seem to think that Shields Are Bad and that we suck for not topping the meters. Hey, if I top healing meters, something is very wrong.

What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new healers of your class to learn?

Shields good, Greater Heal spam bad.

If someone were to try to evaluate your performance as a healer via recount, what sort of patterns would they see (i.e. lots of overhealing, low healing output, etc)?

I really don’t know. I’ve never used recount to evaluate my performance as a healer because it has always been flawed and, as above, if nobody’s dead I’m doing my job. If anybody’s dead because of stupidity, I’m still doing my job by not letting them live.

Haste or Crit and why?

Both are important, but I prefer Crit. Crit equals more bubbles, which means less flailing.

What healing class do you feel you understand least?

Holy Priests. Tried the spec, flailed, failed miserably, still don’t freaking get it.

What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in healing?

I use a bunch of mouseover macros, ShadowedUF and Decursive.

Do you strive primarily for balance between your healing stats, or do you stack some much higher than others, and why?

I’ve been really chugging the Crit and now I’m looking more toward Spellpower and Int since I’m … good but not spectacular. I like my crit for the extra bubbles, but I need the spellpower to make those bubbles stronger and the int for an increased mana pool, regen and still more crit.
